Full metal versions are used e.g. in areas wehere there are harsh environmental conditions or where they are required to absorb interference. Special housings are available for combination D-Sub connectors, which have a large interior space for coaxial or high power contacts in order to avoid unnecessary stress on the contacts and wires.
Various systems are available to securely connect and lock different cables to the device or to connect cable to cable. Whether it is a sliding contact, locking device or screw connection, the suitable system will have to be chosen depending on the relevant application. Dust protection caps and shielding caps are available for open interfaces that are not always in use. If there is sufficient space, a "Blind Mating System" should be used to ensure a secure connection of the male and female connector in the equipment cabinet. This is particularly recommended where there isn't clear access to the mating connector.
